Chiari Malformation:The Reason Why This Boy Couldn't Sleep

Chiari Malformation:The Reason Why This Boy Couldn't Sleep

It was May, last year, when we first heard the news about this 3-year old boy who couldn't sleep. Rhett Lamb was a very irritable boy. So, why is he irritable? Well, if you only sleep less than 2 hours a day, wouldn't you be irritable? Rhett Lamb was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation, an extremely rare condition to where the brain squeezed into the spinal column. What happens is you get compression, squeezing, strangulating of the brain stem, which has all the vital functions that control sleep, speech, our cranial nerves, our circulatory system, even our breathing system. I heard that the boy who couldn't sleep will finally get his zzz's. He undergone a major procedure to correct the Chiari Malformation. Poor kid. He has to go under the knife and open his skull up to be normal. I hope he gets well soon. And can sleep as often as he wants to.
