The 5th Philippine Bird Festival is set to take off in Balanga, Bataan on October 9-10. With the theme: "Ibong Dayo, Kaibigan Tayo!", the country's largest celebration of bird lore awareness will be rocking Bataan this year. Bird watchers and nature enthusiasts are expected to flock the city.
The festival will mark the arrival from the Asian mainland and Japan of wintering shorebirds with the official dedication of the Balanga Nature and Wetland Park, the first protected wetland park in the whole Manila Bay area. The festival will also stage a trade fair on the Capitol Grounds featuring products from Bataan's 12 provinces. Other activities include photo exhibit, film showing, bird-theme games, face painting and henna tattooing. Street dancing by local troupes along the route to the new Plaza Mayor de Balanga will take place after the festival's opening ceremony in Balanga Nature and Wetland Park Tortugas, Balanga City.
